There are several options available for medical advice by telephone and on the internet. Many frequently asked questions are addressed here on our website in Patient Education. Here you will find several links to educational materials and websites that provide advice on many pediatric issues including growth and development, feeding, sleeping, and behavior.
We are also more than happy to assist you with urgent medical questions or "sick child" questions during our regular office hours. Our trained advice nurses can be reached at (703) 391-0900. This service is available from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Here you can address issues such as medication refills or your child's current illness. If the advice nurses cannot satisfactorily answer your inquiry, they will pass a message along to a physician who will return your call at their earliest opportunity.
After hours advice is also available for urgent medical issues. Pediatric trained advice nurses will help you decide if you need to seek care immediately for your child's urgent illness and/or if you need to go to the emergency room. This service is not to be used for routine questions. To reach this service, please call (703) 391-0900 and follow the telephone prompts. There is a charge of $15 for after hours phone calls.
If your child is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911!
